RBC picks Barend Janssens to head emerging markets WM

The bank lists snatching market share and building corporate relationships in Asia as priorities for 2011. Meanwhile, RBS Coutts names a new head of NRI and South Asia business based in Dubai.

The Royal Bank of Canada RBC has hired Barend Janssens to be head of wealth management for emerging markets as the latest step in its international expansion drive.

Separately, RBS Coutts, the international private banking arm of the Royal Bank of Scotland, has named Santosh Keni as head of non-resident Indian NRI and South Asia business in the Middle East as it sets out to double the size of its business in the region.

Janssens, who was CEO of Asia private banking at ABN Amro for five years before leaving in 2009, will be responsible for growing RBC’s client-facing teams in Asia, Latin America and Europe, Middle East and Africa. He is...
